Beginners Quilling - 01/25/2020
Quilling is the art of creating decorative designs from thin strips of curled paper. This age-old art of paper quilling has been around since the Renaissance, during that time, French and Italian nuns and monks used quilling to decorate book covers and religious items. The paper most commonly used was strips of paper trimmed from the gilded edges of books. These gilded paper strips were then rolled to create the quilled shape. In this class, each student will receive a quilling kit which includes the necessary quilling papers, a slotted tool, a circle sizer ruler and two note cards with envelopes. The students will develop basic quilling skills and learn to make some simple flowers and butterflies. The finished creations will be attached to card stock to make two note cards to bring home with their kit.
