About the CITC

Who We Are

The Chincoteague Island Theatre Company was founded in 2011 when artistic director, Lexi Hubb, approached the CCA about starting a community theatre organization on the island. Lexi holds a BA in theatre arts and is a New York City-trained dramatist. The mission of the CITC is to work with our sponsor, the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance, to further enhance the island's cultural and artistic opportunities by introducing theatre performance and education. The CITC produces plays and performances year-round. All of our productions are created and performed on Chincoteague.

Since our founding, CITC has been very busy:
  • Sold-Out main stage winter productions: And Then There Were None-2012, Blithe Spirit- 2013, Arsenic and Old Lace-2014, Harvey-2015, Mornings at Seven-2016, The Curious Savage- 2017, Enchanted April- 2018, Moon Over Buffalo- 2019)
  • Sold-out murder mystery dinner theatre performances first at Mr. Paul's Kitchen, and now at CCA.
  • Productions (with over 500 people in attendance) of the History Plays in 2013 and 2014 - two plays about island legends written by local playwright Lisa Cannon at the Island Theater in collaboration with the Chincoteague Island Arts Organization.
  • Staged readings of letters and stories during the Heritage Days celebration, coordinated by the Museum of Chincoteague and held at the Island Theater.
  • Our summer series, 3rd Thursday Theatre, held first at Book Hounds Plus, Sundial Books, the Island Library and now the CCA Arts Center. Anything is fair game as long as it's theatre.
  • Play Club - we meet, read plays out loud, eat light refreshments, and then chat about the plays.
  • Acting Workshops for adults.
Want to Join Us? We are always looking for new members who want to act or help backstage. Everyone is welcome.
