INLET BY TOM'S COVE
Beverly Abel
$225
Watercolor -  10" H, 17" W
Matted - Total: 16" H 23" W
I love painting outside, but sometimes it is the "Battle of the Bugs!"  Well-lathered with bug spray and sunblock, I stood in the weeds for this watercolor of a little inlet just before Tom's Cove. There was a family off to the side having great fun crabbing. Although I wasn't to have a crab dinner, I was happy to go home with an expression in paint of a lovely morning with Ole Mom Nature.

BLACK SKIMMER
Beverly Abel
$250
Oil Painting -  12" H, 24" W - Mounted for Hanging
Every painting needs a center of interest to draw the viewer in. Mine flew by several times, working the stream first in one direction, then the other. Watching the black skimmer fish was a special treat for me.  I saw him on the loop on Assateague Island. This canvas has been painted on the sides and is wired for hanging.

GREAT EGRETS
Beverly Abel
$225
Oil Painting -  12" H, 16" W - Unframed
I have always admired these large, graceful birds with their huge wingspans.  One can always find them on the little creek going towards Tom's Cove.  I'm sure that many a photographer has captured them on that fallen tree.  Probably many an artist too, but I felt drawn to the scene: the intricate structure of the fallen tree, the sharp contrast of the white birds against the dark green background, and the flowing kaleidoscope of color in the water.

ROSE MALLOW
Beverly Abel
$275
Oil Painting -  12" H, 16" W
Framed - Total: 13.5" x 17.5"
Deep shade and a beautiful view made this a happy choice for me as a painting subject.  I found the little pond fringed with rose mallow on the Island Nature Trail on Chincoteague Island. The early morning light and stillness of the little pond gave it a quality of serenity.  A green heron stopped by but he declined to pose for me.

SUNRISE ON THE BAY
Beverly Abel
$225
Oil Painting -  11" H, 14" W
Framed - Total: 18" H x 21" W
I would probably not make a very good livelihood as a fisherman because I am not accustomed to getting up before dawn. I did for this painting though. It was lovely seeing all the pastel shades of the sky, the pinks and soft yellows, and the lavender clouds, just before the fiery red entrance of the morning sun.  The view was painted just off the Whealton Causeway looking towards Chincoteague.

SUNFLOWERS
Beverly Abel
$250
Oil Painting -  16" H, 12" W
Framed - Total: 17 1/2", H, 13 1/2 W
I didn’t have to go far to paint these sunflowers while staying at a friend’s house on Chincoteague Island: they were right in her backyard! These lovely sunflowers brought a note of cheer to a somewhat overcast, hot summer day.
