Plein Air Art Show
Judith Collins
North Carolina artist Judith Collins is married to a Chincoteague native. She and her husband have kept their home on the island for over 40 years. She returns as often as possible to paint and enjoy the beauty and serenity of this beautiful island. After years of exclusively being a studio artist, she joined a group of plein air painters which so inspired her that she continues to paint en plein air whenever possible, primarily at events in N.C. and while traveling this beautiful country with her husband in their RV. This is her 7th year participating in Chincoteague's plein air event, which has become a favorite. Drawn to the history of the island, she usually chooses to paint landscapes with structures that have a tale to tell—oyster shucking houses, fishing boats, quaint old homes, and historic downtown. Judith enjoys painting in both watercolor and acrylic and is a signature member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina.

ISLAND THEATRE Judith Collins $500 Acrylic- 11" H, 14" W Framed - Total: 12.5" H, 15.5" W This historical Art Deco theater was built in 1945. A favorite pastime for my husband and friends in the 40s, today it is "must do" when family are on the island. What a pleasure it was to capture it on canvas! Questions? GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN Judith Collins $675 Acrylic- 14" H, 18" W - Unframed From our dock on Deep Hole Road this used to be our view. The closest building was known as the clam box. My husband says when he was a boy he would take clams there to sell. He got a penny a clam! There was so much local history associated with that building. It is a shame it was torn down. The second building is still there and was owned by Tommy Reid. It was also used for oyster and clamming operations. I hope it doesn't get torn down. Questions? GRAZING Judith Collins $275 Acrylic- 8" H, 8" W - Unframed Nothing says Chincoteague like ponies! I chose to paint this on a 1 1/2 wrapped canvas with painted edges which does not require framing. Questions? Email [email protected] Click to purchase |
