Plein Air Art Show
Loriann Signori

For the past 40 years, I have been working as a landscape painter in the area surrounding Washington DC. While my preferred mediums have always been oil or pastel, my methods, techniques, and aesthetic aims have all undergone significant transformations since I first began. In the beginning I painted things as I saw them, very realistic, very recognizable. Later, I knew there was more to a painting than its surface reality. I desired to get more and go deeper. That was the dawn of my life-long pursuit of color and its relationship to emotion.
I learned my craft in the studio and outdoors. I received my BFA from Swain School of Design and MFA, under full fellowship, at American University. After graduating I was inspired by the beauty of the Potomac River and began painting landscapes that blend realism and abstraction. Most recently I have been obsessed with the sea, its endless horizon and the movement of light on water.  I have participated in numerous one person and group shows and am honored to have my work included in public and private collections throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. In the past few years, I am privileged to be featured in the Plein Air and Home and Design Magazines and the book, Drawing 365. In 2017 and 2019 I was fortunate to be part of a small group of artists as a resident at the Brush Creek Art Foundation.

VIEW OVER QUEEN SOUND
Loriann
Signori

$277 (includes insured shipping by artist)
Pastel  -  6" H, 6" W - Unframed

Queen Sound obsesses me. The way the horizon stretches over the vibrant green marsh grass makes the soul fly free. I love it best when the majestic clouds rumble through and send light in unexpected directions. I could paint this view forever.

WOWZA!
Loriann

$327 (includes insured shipping by artist)
Oil  -  8" H, 8" W - Unframed

Queen Sound continues to be my focus. Light is not just physics; sometimes it's metaphysics. The need to flee from experience to what is perceptible to the senses.
