Plein Air Art Show
Martha Pileggi

I have been painting professionally in Delaware since the 80s. My main concentration for the last few years has been on realistic plein air oil paintings of the Eastern Shore. I like to portray the open spaces and quietness of the landscape in its many forms and weather conditions.  I want the viewer to feel a sense of solitude and beauty when looking at my paintings. I have been described as a "high key" painter, who uses bright colors to express my art. My greens are especially vibrant which is the way I see them.  Regular visits to state and federal parks in Delaware and Maryland give me inspiration. Studying the masters and regularly taking art workshops from a variety of well known and accomplished artists helps to improve my work. Previously known for my watercolors and hand painted tiles, I now work exclusively in oil.

LICHEN ON THE PINE
Martha Pileggi
$350
Oil on Gessoed Board -  9" H, 12" W
Framed - Total: 12" H, 15" W

This tree is on Assateague island. It is on a sand dune and covered in lichen among so many upright trees. The tree reminded me of an abstract because of all the limbs going in all directions and very gnarled.  It is framed with a modern heavy eco-frame in glossy black with streaked gray.
