Plein Air Art Show
Valerie Waywell

This is my 15th year in the CCA Plein Air Show. I have been painting in different mediums since I was 9 years old. However, I didn't paint plein air until I was in my late 30's, thanks to a forceful friend who brought me to Chincoteague Island. This event is much more to me than just painting outside. I love this island and all it has offered to me. Truly, thank you.

MILES HANCOCK DECOY SHED
Valerie Waywell

$200
Acrylic -  11" H, 14" W
Framed - Total: 16" H 20" W
The Miles Hancock Shed was painted at it's original location, Georgies Lane. Patty and Craig Beitzel had recently purchased the property and requested a plein air painting of the shed for their art collection. I loved it so much I painted it twice! The second version of this historical building is a must have for those of you who love Chincoteague Island.

Boat ride anyone? This is the best way to explore Chincoteague Island. I had to capture this cute building with its inviting dolphins. This piece is painted on 1" cradled board.

THURSDAY NIGHT SUNSET
Valerie Waywell

$200
Acrylic -  10" H, 20" W - Unframed
Almost every year I’ve been in the CCA Plein Air Show I've painted the sunset on this night from the same place—once the Chincoteague Inn, then the Jackspot and now the Ropewalk. Did you know that it takes 2-3 drinks to complete a sunset painting? This piece is on a 2" cradled board.
